Accelerated Intermediate Excel

This workshop focuses on exploring a Wide range of Excel concepts that will give participants a broad platform to Excel proficiency.  Those involved with compiling reports from raw data, performing slicing analysis, reconciling statements, using trackers, and wishing to find ways to streamline their work will benefit from this course. 

Learning Objectives

Module 1 – DATA MANAGEMENT 

  • Understand data types, and common inconsistencies or problems with imported data. Learn tools like Text to Column for managing data inconsistency, and formula functions to clean up data.
  • Understand the TABLE feature and its importance as a dynamic dataset for Pivot Tables, and other Spreadsheet features.

Module 2 – FUNCTIONS AND FORMULAS 

  • Introducing important Formula concepts (NEW) – Spilled Array Formulas in Microsoft 365
  • Introducing some new Functions (NEW) – SEQUENCE, UNIQUE and SORT as Dynamic Arrays
  • Working with Lookups – A brief look at VLOOKUP as a Spilled Array and an Introduction to Excel’s newest lookup, the XLOOKUP function (Office 365 only) 

Module 3 – PIVOT TABLES  

  • Working with PIVOT TABLES
         º     Maintaining Data discipline
         º     Creating Pivot Tables
         º     Manipulating Pivot Table Fields including Report Filters
         º     Pivot Table tips and tricks for effective work

Tips and Tricks  (About 15 minutes)

  • Work with quick tools like Flash Fill for editing data quickly.
  • Work with the Linked-Picture feature for printing and pasting

More Tips and Tricks may be sprinkled throughout the workshop depending on time available!

Special Notes/Requirements

Wherever needed, Microsoft Office for PC, Office 365 will be used in the demonstration of techniques of this workshop. These workshops are Hands-on and require participants to work on the software.
