Terms and Conditions

Enrolling in CPA Nova Scotia's PD courses declares your agreement to the following Terms & Conditions.

  • Registration and Payment

Members must login to the CPA Nova Scotia website to register for CPD courses. Payment of course fees are due at the time of registration. We accept VISA, Mastercard, and cheques. Cheques should be made payable to CPA Nova Scotia. All registrations are subject to HST regardless of employer or employment status. Phone registrations will not be accepted.

Only registered individuals may attend a course/webinar. For live sessions, each attendee must be registered for that session and multiple individuals may not share a single registration. Registrants who do not separately attend sessions, and therefore cannot individually verify their attendance, will not be awarded CPD hours for that session.

  • Corporate Registrations

Organizations that wish to purchase courses on behalf of multiple employees may do so by completing this fillable form and are subject to the same terms and conditions as individual registrants.

  • Intellectual Property and Copyright Content

All CPA Nova Scotia courses contain intellectual property and copyright content. No parts of the course - presentation, video, audio, electronic or printed material - may be recorded, screenshot, reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means.

  • Confirmation of Registration

Registrants will receive an Order Confirmation email immediately after registering and, one day later, will also receive a Registration Confirmation email. Virtual classroom course login details should not be shared with others.  This information is strictly for the registrant only.

  • Cancellations and Refunds

Confirmation that the course will proceed as scheduled will be emailed to the registrant approximately one week before the course date. This confirmation notice is provided as a courtesy only – all assessments apply whether a registrant receives a confirmation email.

Cancellation requests made by the registrant must be received in writing no later than five (5) business days before the course date (statutory holidays are not considered business days). Telephone notifications will not be accepted. Cancellations received within this time frame will result in a full refund, otherwise the course fee paid is forfeited. Registrants who do not show up for a course and who do not notify CPA Nova Scotia at least five (5) full business days prior to the course date will be assessed the full fee paid for the course.  Members may choose to enroll in alternate courses (subject to availability and current pricing in effect) and depending on the alternate course fee, extra charges or refunds may apply.

Substitution of a registrant is permitted up to and including the day of the course if the original registrant notifies CPA Nova Scotia in writing. Additional fees may apply where the replacement individual is not a member of CPA Nova Scotia.

  • Course Cancellations by CPA Nova Scotia

CPA Nova Scotia reserves the right to postpone or cancel courses, typically due to low registration, in which case our liability will be limited to the registration fee paid. Registrants will be notified via email at least five (5) business days prior to the course date.

Members may choose to enroll in alternate courses (subject to availability) or receive a refund. Depending on the alternate course fee, extra charges or refunds may apply.

If a course is cancelled due to severe weather conditions, notice will be sent to members’ preferred email addresses listed in our database by 7:00am on the morning of the course. In rare circumstances, we may be forced to cancel a course for reasons outside our control. Registrants will be contacted via email and our liability is limited to the course fees paid.

  • Course Leader Substitution

In the event of unforeseen scheduling issues, we reserve the right to substitute a qualified speaker who is not listed in the course description.

  • On Demand Courses

The registration fees for these courses are payable at the time of registration. Once a registrant receives their login access to the course, no refunds or substitutions will be granted.

  • Audio/Video Recording and Photography

CPA Nova Scotia may occasionally record audio/video or take photographs at courses. Recordings and images may be edited and distributed in various publications, including social media, as well as educational products. To alert of us any concerns, please email us at [email protected].

  • Refreshments, Meals and Accommodations

Some beverages and snacks are available at course venues. Meals are not included in the price of a course and are the responsibility of the registrant. For hotel accommodations, please browse the CPA Nova Scotia website under the Member Benefits section for a list of hotels with corporate rates.

  • Course Materials

Materials are available for downloading approximately four business days prior to the course date. For virtual courses, registrants can access materials by going to the CPD Courses page, finding the appropriate course, and clicking “View Details”. On the course page, click the “Event Materials” box at the top right.

  • Course Venues

Most in-person courses take place in the CPA Nova Scotia Learning Centre unless otherwise indicated. The Learning Centre is located within our office space at 300-1871 Hollis Street, Halifax. Virtual courses are predominantly offered via our Zoom platform or in some cases, via the preferred platform of the seminar speaker.
